BOWLERS AND POLITICS.
An aspect of the elections from a bowler's point of view was touched upon at the opening of the Auckland Bowling Club's green on Saturday by the president of the club (Mr Wm. Elliot). In these times of political excitement, with a general election immediately impending, it was, ho said, pleasing to say that politics had no place on the greens, and that bowlers who wish to get away from discussions as to the merits and chances of the various candidates could find peace and harmony in playing their favourite game. What a world of trouble it would save the candidates and the community if those aspiring to Parliamentary honours could decide the contests by playing a game of bowls —the winners to proceed to Wellington and the losers to stay at home!
