' BACING

TURF NOTES. (By "Zetland.") Good going On the outside of the Bourse proper was witnessed at Opaki yesterday morning by a number of visiting and local trainers and owners. Pukewhai ran six furlongs with a light weight up in fair style. Speciosa, a Hack Hurdles candidate, went strongly over two rounds, and Skye ran a mile, finishing up fast. Aberration finished in front ot Therea in a five iurlbngs gallop, and Roseal and Scenery went a mile and a quarter, the pace being solid for the last six furlongs. Golden Butterfly, Haremai, Whakatika, Gaelic, Sandstream, Routine, Toa Tuhi, Tumut, Golden Rein, Hermia, Hine'rangi, and the Sir Galahad filly executed serviceable working gallops. Polyanthus had. too much pace for the Bracelet candiadte, Exporter, over six furlongs, and Blue Ribbon finished in front of San Julie in a strong gallop of a mile. Irish Rifle was associated with Daisy Paul over six furlongs. The first-named displayed more dash than on Tuesday, and beat his companion-by half a length. Lucretius and Merrie Rose galloped a mile. The first-named got away with a slight advantage, and there was little to choose between the pair at the finish. St. Charles finished little better than Afterthought over half a mile, and Kiltie Lass was half a length in front of Sealer over a similar distance. Silken Rein trotted a round and then ran a good working gallop for six furlongs. MARLBOROUGH NOMINATIONS. Nominations for all events to be run at the Marlborough Racing Club's spring meeting, on November 19th and 20th, will close with the secretary (Mr C. J. M. Griffiths), Blenheim, at 9 o'clock on Saturday, October 31st.
