THE ENGINEERS' DISPUTE.

The Arbitration Court's award in the Wellington engineers' dispute fixes the hours at 47 per week; after that, time and a quarter for two hours, and time and a half for further overtime. Workers on night shifts are to be paid 2s per hour. Competent engineers are to be paid Is 4Jd per hour. Journeymen employed on repair work away from the employers' establishments to receive Is per day each extra. Apprentices in their first year are to receive 5s per week, second year 10s, third 15s, fourth £l, fifth £1 ss. Provisions are made to oblige employers to teach apprentices their trade. The Manawatu Company, Wellington Harbour Board, Union Steamship Company, and A. Hatrick and Co. are exempted from the award. The award comes into force on November 9th next, and continues till December 31st, 1909.
