AN AMERICAN RECORD. Received October 26, 8.37 a.m. .NEW YORK, October 25. Seventeen cars started in the Vanderbilt Cup race at New York. 'George Robertson, driving an American car, was the winner, doing the 258 miles in' 241 minutes—an American record. i There were a quarter of a million spectators. ' Many minor accidents occurred, but no fatalities. Only two cars finished, • owing to the spectators swarming the course.
