F. Tilley, trainer of Frisco, states that the horse, who has ruled for some time as favourite in the New Zealand Cup, was accepted for. His name must have been omitted by the Canterbury Jockey Club.

The weather in the early morning did not look promising for the second day of the Wellington Racing Club's meeting, but to the astonishment of pleasure-seekers, although slightly cold, it surpassed the moat sanguine expectations. The attendance in the afternoon was exceptionally good. The course was very holding and good fields faced the starter in the principal events. All the races were despatched well to time, and the starting left nothing to be desired. The sum of £10,352 was invested for the day, as compared with £20,098 on the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £21,037, as compared with £34,813 last/year. Thirty-one bookmakers wera licensed. Results:— Petone Hack Hurdles—Master Douglas, 10.8,1; Jolly Roger, 9.9, 2; Liberator,lo.2 3. Also started— Gleam and Yosami. Won easily by two lengths. Time, 2min 59 l-ssec. Tararua Hack—Blue Ribbon, 7.0, 1; Pellicle,.B.4, 2; Voetgang, 7.13, 3. Also started—Sandstream. Won by a head. Time, lmin 35sec. Trentham Hurdles—Paparaehi, 9.5, 1; Mahoe, 10.3, 2; Snip, 9.0, 3. Also started—Lyrist and Playmate. Won by a length and a quarter. Time, 3min 31sec. Juvenile Handicap—Daybeam, 7.9, 1; Applegarth, 7.12, 2; Expansion, 8.8, 3. Also started—Tawhaki, Somersault, Maori King, Ambrosian, Kiltie Lass, Merry Oliver, Marengo, Lady Medallist. Won by half a length. Time, 52sec. PEARCE HANDICAP, 300 sovs; 1 mile.

Also started—Sunbonnet, Truganini, Mon Ami, Riflemaid, Moloch, North Head, San Fernando. Tiptoe had the race at his mercy all the way, and won by ytwo lengths. Time, lmin 19 3-ssec. Spring Trial Handicap—Mernvonia, 7.10, 1; Bracken, 8.11, 2; Cork, 7.12, 3. Also started—Te Ru, St. Flora, Toango, Ukraine. Won by a length and a half. Time, lmin 21 l-ssec. Ruahine Hack—Advantage, 7.10, 1; Vinco,6.7, 2. Whetumarama, the other starter, broke down. (No time sent.)
