"The Times," .commenting on the interchange ot messages between the Mikado and Mr Roosevelt, remarks: "Australia ai:d New Zealand are members of a mighty Empire, which is a great Pacific power, and, with their well-directed --aid, may be the great-jot Pacific power. We at horns are sensible of our vitil interests in the Pacific, and are resolved, at whatever the sacrifices, to uphold them."
