WELLINGTON RACES. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, October 21. The weather in the earlier part of the morning was fine but cloudy for the first day of the spring meeting of the Wellington Racing Club. The attendance was large, and some excellent racing was witnessed. Shortly after 3 o'clock heavy rain set in and continued for the remainder of the day. For the last three races the going became heavy. Twenty-nine bookmakers were licensed. The investments amounted to £10,689, as compared with £14,715 for the previous year. Swimming Belt .. 1 Zimmerman .. - S;r Frisco .. 3 Also started—California, Gold Crest, Gold Beater, Irish Rifle, Gienullin, San Julie, Silken Rein, Sandstream and Mallet.. Won by half a length.
