ONE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED HOUSES DESTROYED. TWO THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED PERSONS KILLED. Received October 21, 8.45 p.m. PEKIN, October 21. A terrible typhoon at Amoy destroyed one thousand six hundred houses, and killed two thousand seven hundred persons.
