SAD BOATING FATALITY.
HUSBAND AND WIFE DROWNED. By Association. GREYMOUTH, October 19. A sad boating fatality occurred at Lake Brunner on Saturday evening. It appears that Mr and Mrs Green and family went out on the lake in two boats. Mr and Mrs Green and a boy aged 14 years, in a flatbottomed boat, had proceeded as far as Horseshoe Bay, and were returning between 5 and 6 o'clock on their honeward trip, when the boy decided to change places with his father. While they were in the act of changing, the boat capsized and turned over. As soon as the boat filled Mr and Mrs Green sank, and the boy did not see them again. The lad hurfg on to the bottom of the boat tiil the second boat come up, when he was rescued. The occupants of the second boat spent a considerable time in searching for Mr and Mrs Green, but without avail. The boy states that his father could swim, and surmised that he tried to rescue Mrs Green, and both were drowned.
