A ballot of the combined unions, completed late last night, resulted in 354 voting for and 430 against a sti ike. CRISIS AVERTED. . Received October 20, 12.20 a.m. SYDNEY, October 19. The Barrier crisis has been averted.' The,non-politic£l union, after receiving a deputation of tradespeople, who uiged the serious distress that was likely to follow a strike, decided to abandon the conference with the mine managers.
