Maud Gonne 2, Wabun 3. Adage also started. Won by two and a-half lengths. Time, 52 3-ssec. Electric Handicap, 6 furlongs— Dabchickl, Sweet Angelus 2, Petrovna 3. Won by half a length. OTAKI RAGES. OTAKI, October 14. The weather was good for the opening day of the Otaki races. Results: — Flying Handicap—Duart 1, Toa Tuhi 2, Daisy P;\ul 8. Also started —Lord Soulfc and Flotilla. Duart led all the way, winning easily by two length?. Time, lmin ssec. Handicap Hurdles—Don Carlos 1, Whimper 2, Yosami 3. Also started —Papatoa and Tauini. Don Carlos took charge at the bend, and won easily by two lengths. Te Hiwi Memorial King Post 2, Scenery 3. Only starters. 'Won comfortably by a length. Time, lmin 4-ssec. - Maiden Plate—Roosevelt .1, Te Kahurangi 2, Coy 3. Also started —Silver Light, Clemency, Notorious, Lady Paul, Reumac, Vinco, Faux Pas, Waipunui and Muratoa. Te Kahurangi ltd to within thirty yards of the winning post, v/here Roosevelt came and won by a length. Labour Day Handicap—lrish Rifle 1, Swimming Belt 2, Hiro 3. Also started Duart and Probability. Duart led to the bend, when Irish Rifle took the lead, and won a good race by a length. Time, lmin 44 l-ssec.
Hack Hurdles—Lyrist 1, Raparehi 2, Papatawa 8. Also started— Hatley, Dane and Waimera. Won all the way by three lengths. Stewards' Handicap—lnvestment 1, Bluebell 2, Glentui 3. Also started—Whetumarama and Hereward. Investment came with a rattle in the straight and won all out by a length. Walter Hack—Playmate 1, Zoraida 2, Flintgun 3. Also started— Rangihaeta, Buoyant, Aotea and Grand Myrella. Won all the way by a length. The sum of £5,995 was put through the totalisator, against £7,129 last year. Eleven bookmakers were licensed.
