NORTHERN BOWLING ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Northern Bowling Association of, New Zealand was held to-night. The report showed that the number of affiliated clubs is 44. The champion tours tournament would be held in Napier next January. A return visit from an Australian dub waa expected early next year. The receipts for the year totalled £267, and the expenditure was £242. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr J. McVay (Napier); Vice-President, Colonel Collins (Wellington); Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J. H. Mentiplay (Wellington); Auditor, Mr H. T. Allen (Wellington). At a meeting of the Council a letter from the Gisborne Club was considered, asking if a regulation could be made allowing members to play with both feet on the mat. This being opposed to Association rules it was decided that such a rule 1 could be made for members, but could not bo enforced on visitors. It was decided that the Napier Tournament should open on Monday, January 11th. Twenty-one risiks will be available. Representatives of all clubs in the district are to be asked to join in a deputation to the Prime Minister, asking relief from payment of municipal rates. A committee was appointed to go into the question of the cost of tournaments.
