FRENCH AND MUSSULMANS. SHOTS FIRED. A MUSSULMAN KILLED. Received October 13, 9 a.m. CALCUTTA, October 12. A serious riot occurred at Kota Kappan, near Pondichery. Mussulman boys amoved French fishermen, who retaliated, causing the Mussulmans to assist their boys?. British police tried to suppress the trouble by firing blank cartridges and the French responded with ball, kill ing one Mussulman and seriously wounding eight. Later, French rowdies looted Mussulman shops and gardens.
