Wheat—l4,ooo quarters of Australian December-January sold at 35s 9d, 11,000 January-February at 36s lOd, 1,000 ditto at 36s ljd, and Adelaide October at 37s 6d. Canterbury Sheep—Light, 4Jd. River Plate Sheep—Heavy, 3Jd. Canterbury Lambs—Medium, s§d. Beef—New Zealand fores, 3Jd: hinds, 4d. River Plate, fores, 3 3-16 d; hinds, 3£d. Rabbits—Market- very firm, and sales steady. There is good Continental demand for hares at about 2s 6d. At the rabbit skins auctions, 2,709 skins were offered and 79 sold. Well furred at late rates; medium grades advanced a halfpenny. Hemp-r-Market steady and prices unchanged. Hides—A moderate demand. Sydney heavy, 4fd; light, 4§d; cow, 4ld. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION, WELLINGTON, October 12. The High Commissioner reports as follows from London: There is an endeavour amongst holders to raise prices of mutton. There has been more inclination to purchase mutton during the past week for forward delivery and a much better feeling prevails. Canterbury, 4d; North Island, 3£d; Eiver Plate, 3£d.

The lamb market is steady, with improved demand on account of fine weather. There is no change in prices, but the tendency is upward. The beef market is dull with very little business doing. The market has been unfavourably effected by a large supply from America and Argentine, and the weather lately has been unfavourable to the sale of beef. Hindquarters, 3gd; forequarters, 3jd. The butter market is steady, but without animation. Danish, 1245; Siberian, 108s; Canadian, 116s. There is no alteration in the cheese market since laßt week. Canadian, brands, 61s. The following are current quotations for Bradford tops:—36's low crossbreds, 9£d; 40's low crossbreds, lOd; 44's medium, 10fd; 50's halfbreds, Is 3d; 56's quarterbreds, Is 5Jd; 60's merinos, Is 10§d.
