THE DAIRY REGULATIONS.
The dairy regulations have undergone considerable alteration at the hands of the Stock Committee of the House of Representatives. Their main provisions, as amended, may be summarised as under:—Fees for registration are fixed as follow:—Not more than three cows in milk, Is per annum; from three to twenty cows, 5s per annum; more than twenty cows, 10s per annum. Dairies must comply with the following among other conditions—(a) Six hundred cubic feet air space par cow. (b) Even floor, formed of concrete, wood, or other material impervious to water, (c) Yearly white washing, (d) No cowshed to be erected within thirty feet of any stable, fowlhouse, etc. (e) No cowshed to be erected within thirty feet of any dwelling house, (f) Every cowshed in which more than six cows are to be milked and not provided with sufficient stalling accommodation to be provided with proper yard accommodation, (g) Every cowshed, milkhouse, or other building where milk is kept or stored must be properly constructed, lighted, vent Mated, cleansed, and so on. (h) No sewage, drain, gully, or draintrap may be within any cowshed or milkhouse.
