KILLED BY A TRAIN.
BY TELEGRAPH —PRE3(> ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, October 7. Fredk. Chas. Bilson, a middleaged man, was accidentally killed at the Christchurch Railway Station this morning. It appears that Bilsoii was a passenger to Lyttelton by the 7.20 train. Soon after the train started a shunter named Ainsworith noticed the second carriage give a jolt and on looking for the cause he saw the body of a man lying on the line. The train was stopped, and when the body was removed it was found that the head was almost severed from it. The left hand was cut off, and the body considerably bruised. Death must have been instantaneous.
It is stated that Bilson was troubled lately over some private matters, and the police are of the opinion that he committed suicide. Later. At the inquest held to-day relative to the death of Frederick Chas. Bilson an open verdict was returned. During the evidence it was stated that the man was awaiting trial on a charge of indecent assault. The inquest was held in Christchurch by the Corosier alone.
