TIME TO CALL A HALT.
"The time is coming," said the Hon. C. M. Luke, in the Legislative Council on Monday night, "when employers may be classed as pests and a hindrance to the well-being of the community, and the progress of the Dominion." This conclusion, he added, had been forced upon him during the last session and this one. Unless Parliament gave some consideration to those who carried on the industries of the Dominion, there would be reason to regret it. He rose, he said, on what might be the last opportunity during this Parliament, to say that it was time to call a halt. If this were not done and a little more strain were put upon those carrying on the enterprises of the Dominion, they would find them not only deserting the rank of employers, but probably leaving the Dominion.
