A BRAVE ACTION.
BOY RESCUED FROM A RIVER. BY TELEGRAPH —FKEBS ASSOCIATION. HOKITIKA, Octobers. A little boy named Clarence St. George had a narrow escape from drowning yesterday. He fell into the Hokitika river, and was caught on a snag on the buttom. A young man named William Wallace, learning of the accident, promptly jumped into the river, but had to dive three tunes before he could get the boy free and up to the surface. The lad was unconscious for some time after rescue, but ultimately recovered, and undoubtedly owes his life to Wallace's brave action.
