PAHIATUA, Octobers. At the Pahiatua mart weekly sales, pigs were in great demand. Prices showed a marked advance. Weaners were a little better in price; suckers brought 14s 6d to 16s; others 16s 6cl to 18s; slips 20s; stores, 30s to 38s. Fine warm and welcome rain commenced to fall last night, and continued intermittently all to-day. A highly successful social, inaugurated by the ladies on betialf of the local football club, was held in the Makomako Schoolroom last night. There was a large attendance, and an enjoyable evaning was spent. Dancirg was continued to an early hour 'this morning. Committees have been formed to arrange for concerts in aid of the funds of the School Committee and Pahiatua Cricket Club at early dates.
