DERBY Paisee .. • • I Monobel . . • • 2 Mother Goose.. .. 3 Nine starters. Bawbee, Nolan, Vavasor were first to show up from a splendid start. Passing the old mill Mother Gcore and Perkeo were leaditig from Monobel, .Ariki and Nolan wft.i the rest close up. Mother Goose with Pci'keo was first into the straight; then curnc Parses and Mo-i-obf;l" Parsee in the centre made a brilliant run and went to the front, beating Monobel comfortably by three lengths. Mother Goose was a head away. Time, 2min 381 sec. Epsom Handicap —Melodrama 1, Blue Book 2, lolaire 3. All the accepters started. Proportion \vas the first to move from Sea King. The latter soon led by a couple of lengths. Before reaching the six furlong post Saa King and Soultline were two lengths ahead of lolaire and War Stal\ At the half-mile post Soultline led by a length. The field clustered round the bend. Soultline and lolaire led past the distance. ■ At the hslf distance Blue Book appeared to'be the winner, but Melodrama finishing with great determination won by half a neck. lolaire was a head away. Time, lmin 39|sec. Spring Stakes—Mooltan 1, bir Aymer 2, Maranui 3. There were seven starters. Cross Battery led off frbm Mooltan ar.d Peru with Maranui last. The positions were unchanged till the mile post where Maranui assumed a lead of three lengths. At the half-mile Cross Battery joined Maranui, and the pair led to the straight. Near the distance Mooltan took charge Sir Aymer made a great run but Mooltan won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 2min 45 sec. Kensington Handicap—Coppertop 1, Azurine 2, Black Mary 3. Seventeen starters. Won by half a length. Time, 1 min 2Ssec. ENGLISH RACING. 1 THE NEWMARKET MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association. LONDON, October 1. At the Newmarket meeting the following was the result of the race for the 4 Jockey Club Stakes, of 10,000 sovs, over the last mile and threequarters of the Cesarewitch course. Three-year-olds to carry 8.7, and four-year-olds and upwards 9.5, (both subject to certain allowances). Mr L. Neumann's br f Siberia, 3yrs (31b allowance), by St. Simon—Sirenia 1 The Duke of Portland's b c Primer 3yrs (31b allowance), by St. Simon—Breviary 2 Mr W. Hall Walker's br c Royal Realm, 3yrs, by Persimmon —Sand Blast 3 There were 197 entries. The winner was trained by Gilpin. HASTINGS TRAINING INOTES. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. HASTINGS, October 3. Rain during the night and early this morning benefited the trsck considerably. Castiglione beat Berengaria by six lengths oyer six furlongs, run in lmin 21se'c. Miss Advance covered half a mile in 503tsec, and Moriarty the same distance' in50sec. Cork beat Parable over six furlongs in lmin 19sec. Lamsdorff finished in front of Golden Gate in a o.ice round spin, which took lmin 4osec. Ikon and Master Delaval finished four lengths in front of Seaton Dale over six furlongs, in 1 min 19sec. Separator was slightly in advance of Erl King at the end of six furlongs , run in lmin 21|sec. Polyanthus, - Kopu, Gold Dust finished in the order named over seven furlongs in lmin 36sec. Other horses did useful work. Mr Stead's horres arrived from Christchureh last evening, and Master Delaval and Master Soult arrived from Auckland.
