At the Pahiatua County Council meeting, held on Saturday, Mr Milne, of Masterton, was appointed County Engineer, telegraphs osar correpsondent. There were thirty - six applications. ' Mr 84. Herroid, for the past eight j years manager of the Napier branch ; of the New Zealand Insurance Com-1 pany, received notice of his pro-; motion to the management of the companys' branch at Buenos Ayres. Mr A. B. Lawrence, manager of the Masterton brand* of the Union Bank of Australia, ieft last week for Gisborne, whetr« he will act as relieving manager for itwo months. MrG. CoghilS, of the Bank's Dunedin branch, is in temporary charge .of the Masterton branch, MrG. Pye, whohasb&en in the employ of Messrs Pickering Bros, tfar some considerable time, and who w&b married on Saturday last, was j presented by Messrs Pickering Bros. | and their employees, on Saturday morning, with two wicker chairs and a handsome oak and silver tray. The presentation was made by Mr PL Fiek^rjng.
