HEROIC EESCUES. BRAVE NURSES. Received October 2, 8.15 a.m. CALCUTTA, October 1. There were many heroic rescues at Haidarabad. ' The nurses at the Victoria Zenana Hospital saved the patients by carrying them to the roofs, which the floods had almost covered. British officials in boats rescued many, climbing with them up trees and to the tops of the temples. . The river Mussi, from a rushing tonjent 60 feet deep, became a trickling stream in two days. Starving and destitute victims of the floods are looting the grain and liquor shops in the devastated area. Catholic priests showed extreme heroism, and by their coolness immensely encouraged the panic-strick-en natives.
