CHARGES AGAINST BOOKSELLERS.

BT TEtiEOUAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION, CHRISTCHURCH, September 29. At the Magistrate's Court before Mr Bishop, S.M., ,the bookselling firms of Simpson and Williams, Whitcombe and Tombs, and Fountain Barber, with of their employees, were charged with dealing with immoral literature, mostly books by Victoria Cross. The defence was chiefly that the sellers were ignorant of the character of the books, and also that the books in question had been sold in many thousands at Home without any prosecution. The Magistrate decided to convict the defendants, but deferred imposing a penalty till all the cases had been heard.
