ANTI-TRUST LAW.

ACTION AGAINST HUDDARTPARKER COMPANY.

A FINE IMPOSED

Received September 29, 10.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, September 29. The cases against the Huddart - Parker Company and Appleton (managing director of the firm), for refusing to answer questions under the Anti-Trust Act, resulted in a fine of £5, with £5 5s costs, being inflicted. In each case the evidence .disclosed the fact that the firm acted on the advice of its solicitors, who claimed that there was no legal obligation lo answer questions, and that the Act was ultra vires. It is suggested that the case should be made a teat one, and this suggestion was adopted. The matter will now be taken to the High Court, both parties desiring a final and early settlement.
