DARING BANK SWINDLE.

THIEF SECURES A LARGE SUM.

Received September 29, 8.50 a.m. LONDON, September 28. A daring bank swindle is reported. The thief, while at the Harlesden branch of the London and Southwestern Bank, overheard a secret code word, intimating the transfer thence to the Catford branch of the bank ot £750 belonging tn a customer. An account at Catford was forthwith opened by the supposed customer, who withdrew £290, and departed in an automobile. The swindler repeated the same operation at seven other branches of the bank, each of which had received a similar notice. The total amount secured by the thief was £2,320.^
