At the meeting Of the Hibernian Society last evening, Bro. H. O'Leaiy (Past President) was presented with a farmed emblem of the Society in appreciation of the valuable services he had rendered to the branch. Mf J. Connor and other memoers referred in eulogistic terms to Mr O'Leary's work on behalf of the Society. In reviving, Mr O'Learj, who was one of vchosa who founded the Hibernian Society in Maaterton, thanked the members for their gift, and gave a orief history of the Society from its foundation up to the present day. '-■■■ A pleasant ceremony took place al the Carterton Methodist Schoolroom en Monday evening, when Mr and ' Mrs Charles Lumley, who are leaving Carterton for Ashhurit, were presented by the congregation and choii of the Methodist Chur:h with a handsoaie Bilver tea service, as a to'<en of esteem. • The Rev:,, W. ( J. .Enintt made the presentation, • and spoke feelingly of Mr and Mrs Lumley't departure. Mr Hart, on behalf of the recipients, thanked the donors heartily for the handsome and useful presentation. Miss Florence Lumley and Master Maurice Lumley wer< each presented with Bibles from the Sunddy School. During the evening an enjoyable musical programme wat rendered by members of the choir.
