The resignation of the Secretary of 'the Masterton Dairy Company (Mr G. •R. Sykea) was handed in at a rnoet•r.pr of directors yesterday. Mr Syfces will be unable to devote the '.Accessary time to the position now that the Masterton A. and P. Association have decided to secure practically hia sole services. The resignation was accepted with regret, the (Mr J. C. Ewmgton) nnd other directors making eulogistic reference to Mr Sykes' excellent work in the past. At the social held last evening by the Garry Owen Hockey Club, Miss M. Stempa, who has been secretary of the club during the past two years, and who is leaving Masterton shortly, was presented with a. silvermounted purse, suitably inscribed, as a mark of esteem. The presentation was made by the Rev. Dean McKenna', who referred in eulogistic tyrms to the work Miss Stempa had done for the club. She had, said the Dean, proved herself an excellent secretary and an enthusiastic member of the club, and he was sure the ■ club sincerely regretted her departure from Masterton. He wished her, on behalf of the members,every success >in the future. Miss Stempa suitably replied.
