THE SESSION.

Son.e members of long standing and experience declare that it is impossible for the end of the session to be reached by Friday week, as hopefully predicted by some other members. The Arbitration Bill can hardly occupy less than two days for the completion of the conmmittee stage, and the third reading debate. Another day must be devoted to the debate on the Public Works Statement, and the Public Works Estimates will doubtless consume another day. Thus four sitting days, which make up a Pailiamentary week, ara accounted for. After that half a day for the Wi-od-vard transactions, a day for the Parliamentary and Government Buildings question, half a day for the Second Ballot Bill on its return from the Upper House, and two nights in Committee of Supply on the Supplementary Estimates, will just about make up another week. Time will have to be found for the debate on" the new Dairy Regulations, the Education Bill, and seven or eight Government measures which cannot very well be dropped. Sir Joseph Ward will make an announcement to-day as to which of its Bills the Government will endeavour to pass this session, and it is not unlikely that he will, at the same time, give a more reliable forecast than anybody else is able to give as to the date of prorogation.
