A Tinui correspondent writes:— Following on a very enjoyable social which was held in connection with the .Westers' Lodge on Friday evening, ;a football match was played on Saturday afternoon, at Tinui, between the '.members of the Tinui branch of JForestsrs and an "AU-Comers".team. "The teams comprised eleven aside, ,- ;«nd the match proved to be one of -.the moat interasting and stubbornly games seen in this part for ;& long time. The Foresters entered the field confident of winning, but ;fate proved unkind to them, as they nvere beaten by 14 points to nil, after putting up a stubborn fight in the ilast twenty minutes. For the winners. Bunny (2) (one converted by '•Vyason with a beautiful kick). J. Collerton (1) and- E. Collerton (1) ■scored tries. During the first half, which was fast and furious, a iront ranker on the "All-Comers'" side, ■named McGillicuddy, who when "treading" a fast dribbling rush, . vvh ca ended in a score and drawing ■:% Jrbt ulood, collided with an opponent, £ k Scholefield, and sustained two ribs. He, however, did inbt give up playing, but retired to ,tne three-quarter line. After the tjatcii the Foresters entertained the winners at a dinner in the Tinui -Hotel. Host Page, providing a capital spread, which was much appreciated. During the evening several •toasts were duly honoured, among liem being- "The Foresters' Lodge," ~and replied to by Mr J. McGann. "The Winners," responded to by Mr E. Cnllertun; "The Captains," re.sponcbdtoby Messrs S. Scholefield and J. Greenbank. The latter gave it as his opinion that it was the best exhibition of football he had seen for .some time; "The Ladies," responded to by Mr Cyril Stillborn, in a happy speech; "The Referee," Mr C. Fletcher, of Australia, who controlled ttie game in an efficient manner, his rulings being favourably commented on by players and spectators alike. The toast of the host and hostess, and tbe-singing of "For He's 1 a Jolly •Good FeUow," and a song by Mr Tramp, and a recitation by Mr K. tCollerton, brought a pleasant evening ito a close.
