CHARGES AGAINST M. ALBERTI.

LOSSES ON STOCK EXCHANGE. Received September 21, 8.30 a.m. COPENHAGEN, Sept. 20. The examining magistrate states that iVj. Alberti, the Danish exMinister, charged with frauds, lost six million kroner in six years on the London Stock Exchange.

M. Alberti was denounced in the press and in the Folkething as long ago as October last. "Of all present Ministers," wrote the London "Times' " Copenhagen correspondent just after the exposures made then, "none possesses a more striking personality or more undisputed authority, and his influence might have gone far to secure the much-needed solution of the problems connected with the national defence of Denmark. When M. Alberti sooner or later disappears from the political stage the Left Reform Party will have none to fill his place, and, therefore, every effort is being made to keep him in office, though, ill as the Government can spare him, it may lose even more by retaining him in the presence of such charges as have been brought against him." A scsthing indictment of M. Alberti was later on made in the Folkething by M. Borgbjoerg, a Socialist leader. The main charge concerned a big timber company called after its founder the Oscar Koehler Company. The Socialists alleged that M. Alberti had unduly favoured this company in the matttr of contracts, etc., and asked for a committee o/ inquiry.
