MASTERTON HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Masterton Hospital Trustees met in the Borough Council Chambers, yesterday morning. There were present:—Me3srs J. B. Keith (chairman), R. Brown, J. C. Ewington, W. Harris, F. W. H. Kummer and H. J./O'Leary. Messrs W. Fisher and M. J. H. Jackson sent apologies for absence. The Treasurer submitted the following report:--General hospital, receipts £943 8s sd, disbursements £373 12s sd, balance at last meeting £1 16s lid, balance at date £571 12s lid; infectious diseases hospital, receipts £lB2 ss, disbursements £23 11a 4d, balance at last meeting £45 ,Is, balance at date £203 14s Bd. The hospital diary was read, and showed that there were 21 patients now in the institution, and 18 had been admitted during the month, and 22 discharged. Mr H. M. Boddington, hon. secretary for the hospital ball, wrote enclosing a balance sheet showing that | the net profit had been £9O 5s sd. It was suggested that the money i should be devoted to furnishing the operating theatre. The Trustees commented very favourably on the splendid result of the ball, and passeda hearty vote of thanks to the promoters. It was also resolved to expend the money as suggested. Mr Brown moved, and it was unanimously agreed that a bonus of £5 5s be given to Mr H. M. Boddington for his services as hon. secretary for the ball It was resolved to grant a request by Mr L. St. George to transfer the balance of his term for supplying the hospital with medicine to another local chemist. ; The secretary reported that he had, in accordance with instructions, conferred with the medical superintendent and the matron regarding patients' fees, and they jointly recommended that the hospital charges in future should range from 4s to 9s per diem, instead of 3s and 9s per diem, as formerly, according to the means of the patients. The report was adopted. A committee was appointed and I instructed to accept a tender up to £3O for furnishing the additional fever ward, which has been completed. Mr Brown was' appointed visiting member for the month. Accounts amounting to £l4l 18s fid were passed for payment.
