Mr Singleton, Government Dairy j Insoector, is at present in Carterton, and is visiting all factories round the district. Miss Robinson, of Masterton, has been appointed temporary assistant mistress at the Gladstone School. "King" Mahuta, M.L.C., is being strongly urged to oppose Mr Hennre Kaihau for the Western Maori district at the next general elections. In a circular which has been issued among3t the natives, it is seated that as Mahuta is "first among men and the most powerful in the land" it be-h-ivea him to become "the mouth of fie' widows, the orphans and the landless natives."
