SWIMMING CHAMPIONS.
i FURTHER SUCCESSES OF AUSTRALIANS. Received September 14, 8 30 a.m. LONDON. Se'pteTiber 13. At Glasgow, Frank E. Beaurepaire, the Australian champion, swam 200 yards in 2tnin 19sec, and 300 yards in 3min 37sec—both Scottish records. Tartakover, of Sydney, won the Southern championship (100 yards) in 63 J seconds—a record.
"Bogey" Beaurenaire is cnJy 17 years of age. School swimming formed the basis of his brilliant career, and his performances in interschool competitions prepared the way for sterner and more important struggles. He was a Vktorian champion before he was 15 years <M, and in his first race in the State championships put up a Victorian record of 6min 15sec for 440 yds. He also won the 220 yds in the same year. In 1907 he won the 300 yds <4nrin)., 440 yds (6miti Bsec), 500ydi (7min 4sec), 880 yd* (l°.'nin 4 2-ssaec), and one mile (26min 2fcec). All his times on the-,e occasions were records for the Victorian State^
