A WORTHY PROPOSAL.
The laving-out and improving of Solway Showgrounds is a matter to which Mr J. M. Johnston, Treasurer of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, devoted a very great deal of valuable time, and upon which he presented a very able and interesting report to the General Committee of the Association. In recognition of his efforts the Committee unanimously resolved to recommend the next annual meeting of the Association to confer life-membership upon Mr Johnston. Mr Wm. Perry put the position fairly and fully enough when he said that Mr Johnston's advice, based as it was upon information personally gathered from the leading Showgrounds of the whole wide world, could perhaps not be purchased at all, and if go, only at a very high price. The honour of being a life member of the Masterton Association is only to be conferred in future for valued personal services rendered to the Association, and Mr Johnston seems to be certainly entitled to the compliment.
