TRUST LANDS TRUST.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trustees was held last evening. There were presentMessrs T. B. Michell (chairman), T. Wagg, 0. Pragnell, C. E. Daniel], E. G. Eton, R. Krahagen, and H. C. Robinson. Leave of absence was granted to Mr W. H. Jackson. The Treasurer reported a debit balance of £1,121. It was decided to extend the leave of absence to Mr D. Caselberg for a further three months. It waß decided to grant the free use of the Town Hall to Mr R. W. Bligh on Sunday afternoon and evening, the 20th inst, provided he pays for the gas in the evening. Messrs Ply and Young wrote complaining of the dangerous nature of the alley-way street-crossing to the Town Hall.—lt was decided to refer them to the Borough Council. It was decided to ask the Public Trustee if he would act as Sinking Fund Commissioner for Trust Loans, and, if so, to state on what terms. An application for a grant was received from the Masterton Pipe Band. Mr Pragnell moved that a grant of £5 be made. There was no seconder and the motion lapsed., No action was taken. In reference to an application from the Municipal Fire Brigade for a gnnt, the chairman was appointed to investigate the nature of the appli;a i m and report to a future meeting of the Trust. Tl e tender of Messrs G. Hyde and Co., at £l4, wrs accepted for a supply of core linoleum for the floor of the Trust offices. Accounts amounting to £95 19s 5d were passed for payment. The Committee set up to report on the question of a new system of lease for Trust tenants made its report. The chief tenure embodied in the report was that which provided for a lease on the lines of that given by the Wellington Harbour Board, and the Wellington City Council, namely, with a perpetual right of renewal, with a re-valuation agreed upon by arbitration, the lease not to be submitted to public auction. The report of the Committee was adopted, after a short discussion.
