A LIVELY MEETING.

Owing to the publication of two memos by Councillor Small and the Mayor on the financial position of the city, which was considered private and confidential, the Finance Committee as a whole resigned. This led to prolonged discussion at the Council meeting last night: The meeting, which lasted till or.e o'clock this nuruing, was at timts violent in r- ard to the language used, the Mayer terming the Financial Committee cowards for having him in the lurch. A new committee was appointed.
