PAHIATUA NEWS.
(By Telegraph—Special to the Age). PAHIATUA, September 9. A valedictory social was tendered to Mr and Mrs T. Horton by the members of tha Wesleyan Congregation in the Wesleyan Church. Mr Horton has been fur a number of years owner of the Pahiatua Nursery, and is a member of the Koyal Horticultural Society, and is leaving to take up his residence at Hastings. During the evening the Rev. Speers presented Mr Horton with an address from the congregation, and Mrs Horton with a aalad bowl and servers. Songs were contributed by Messrs Manifold, J. Boagey and VV. A. Boagey, an anthem by the choir, recitation by Mr George Oxley, each receiving hearty encores. Mrs Manifold and Miss Cox played the accompaniments, i In a hockey match to-day.on the Pahiatua Recreation Ground the Konini Ladies' Club ■ defeated the Kotorua team by three goals to nil. Miss Stewart scored two goals, and Miss Hirst one goal for the winners.
