MR KIDSTON'S VIEWS
Received September 9, 8 a.m. LONDON, September 8. At a farewell banquet to Mr Kidston, Premier of Queensland, were many Australians present. Mr Kidston, responding to the toast of his health, said that after his Eng lish visit he was more than ever op posed to those in Queensland who had been decrying the Old Country. He deprecated the idea of quarrelling with Federation. Australia, he said, required a strong central Government, but with the States having financial independence for their development. He deprecated any attempt to destroy the State Governments.
