A LIVE MEMBER.
The member for Wairarapa (Mr Hornsby) does not apparently lose any opportunities of bringing the needs of his district under the notice of the Government. Mr Hornsby has not only worked hard, but by persistent representation of the duty that the Government owes in various directions to the large and prosperous Wairarapa territory, he has secured somewhat fair treatment from the Ministers. The Parliamentary Party at present gadding about the district will probably be much impressed with the certain future that awaits the Wairarapa, and the result will, we hope, prove beneficial to the dist ic.t. It may be regrettable that electorates should have to depend so largely upon Ministers for "favours," but while the present system continues it is unquestionable that a renlly live member can fairly "shakeUp"' his district, if there is anything in it worth developing.
