MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
* MONTHLY MEETING OF STEWARDS. The Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club held their monthly meeting on Saturday afternoon, present— Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman) , A. J. Welch, W. Piatt, J. O'Meara, J. Cress, W. Cooper, W. D. Watson, C. A. Pownall, R. Buick and C. H. Smith. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £99 Is Id. A matter which came before the meeting was the leaving of his employer by an apprenticed jockey. The evidence of the employer and the boy was taken, and the Stewards discussed the matter fully. A report, embodying their recommendations was drawn up for the information of the Metropolitan authorities. The Wellington Racing Club notified the issue of licenses to the following:—Trainers: A. Watson, J. Chisholm, R. Knox, H) C. McPhee, J. Cress and W.Garrett. Jockeys: C. Cress, A. Watson, F. Cress, T. Carroll, F. Langstone. Gentlemen riders: W. Buick, F. B. Vallance, A. G.. Pilmer, C. Bennett and L. B. Vallance. Mr W. H. Hartgill was re-appoint-ed judge for the spring meeting; Mr A. C. McDonnell, starter and Mr J. H. Pollock handicapper. Committees were set up as follows: —Programme Messrs Pownall, Macara, Cress and Vallance; ground, Messrs Welch, Pilmer, McLachlan, Cave, Piatt, Smith, Cress, Vallance Buick, O'Meara, Reside and lorns. It was resolved to recommend N. Douglas for a gentleman rider's license, and F. Mason for a stableman's permit. One new member was elected.
