Mr W. Cruickshank has resigned his position as sanitary contractor to the Eketahuna Borough Council. Mr Norman Aitken was in Mastertn on Saturday making arrangements or the production of "The Guv'nor.' Mr T. Parata. M.P., is on a brief visit to Masterton. and is the guest of Mr T. Te Tau. A telegram received in Masterton on Saturday stated that Mrs Hives, who has been laid aside in the North with a serious attack of pneumonia, is now much better, altoough still weak. Father Lowham, C.S.S.R., of Wellington, who has been conducting a Retreat for Children of Mary at Masterton during the past week, occupied the pulpit at Mass and Vespers at St. Patrick's Church yesterday. The funeral of the late Mr J. Falloon, who died last Wednesday, took place on Friday afternoon, a large following of friends and sympathisers comprising the cortege. The interment took place at Ballance, in which district the deceased had for many years been farming.—Pahiatua correspondent.
