MARTON RACES. BY TELEGRAPH —PaßSd ASSOCIATION. MARTON, September 3. The weather was beautifully fine for the concluding day of the races. The course was in capital order, 'lhe totalisator turn over for the two days was £13,672, as against £13,576 for last year. A large number of licenses were issued to bookmakers. The fees would represent an average increase of totalisator figures of about £5,000. The amount put through to-day shows a slight increase. 'Frisco was disqualified for inconsistent running in the Telegraph Handicap. A protest was lodged by cue owner of Kareroa, and the owner of 'Frisco, the jockey (A. Oliver), and the horse were disqualified during the pleasure of the Club. In the Hack Steeplechase Waitoa fell, fracturing A. McConnon's collarbone. Results: — Telegraph Handicap.—'Frisco, 1; Kareroa, 2; Waihuku, 3. Also ran —Rangipapa, Splendid Idea, Toa Tuhi, Silver Lead, Millenial. A gnat finish. Kareroa got six lengths start, but 'Frisco put in a great run and won by a length. Time, lmin 15sec. A protest for incon=istent running wys upheld, and the stakes weiv awarded to Kareroa. Second Hurdles.—Gleam, 1; Lyrist, 2; Dnil, 3. All started. The winner was in front most of the way and won by a length. Time, 2min 53sec. Final Scurry.—Whetumarama, 1; Roosevelt, 2; Merry Tiger, 3. Scratched—Lothair, Sir Artegal, Mistime, Sir Antrim, Rifleshot. Won by a length. Time, 52secs.
