Mr J. McLachlan, M.P., is still in ill-health, and has been granted a further two weeks' leave of absence by Parliament. Mr C. C. Graham, S.M., of Dunedin retired from active service as a stipendiary magistrate yesterday. For the last twenty years he has held office, and for twenty years before that he was a J.P. Mr A. D. Gillies, Manager of the Masterton Abattoir, has b».en grant■ed three weeks' leave of absence, and has gflne South on a healthreciuiting trip. Mr C. Aston, formerly on relieving duty at the works, has again been appointed actingManager in Mr Gillies' absence. Mr J. E. Tyler, of Martinborough, was married at Martinborough on Wednesday, last to Miss Maggie Green, daughter of Mr J. Green, of -Martinborough. Misses D. Green, of Nelson, and A. Green, of Bulls, were the bridesmaids, and Mr J. Nicol, of Featherston, was best man. At Eketahuna, on Wednesday last, j/jßlfred Fredericksen, eldest son of MrTHerman Fredericksen, was married to Miss Gertrude Mary Boielle, stepdaughter of Mr W. Kershaw, of Eketahuna. Misses A. Fredericksen and Bertha Boielle were the bridesmaids. Mr V. Fredericksen was best man and Mr Newling groomsman. Mr D. E. Parton will leave Masterton by the express to-day for Taihape, where he takes up the important position of senior clerk in the Post Office. Mr Parton takes with him the best wishes of very many v friends. He has combined numerous self imposed social duties of a public nature with courtesy and attention in his official position, and being en 1 iwed with vitality and a strong taste for study he should make bis mark in the service.
