THE STUD.

CONQUEROR (2). —I — Breeders of thoroughbreds in this district are fortunate in having at their services siuch a successful sire as Conqueror. His achievements on the race track include the C.J.C. Welcome Stakes and Middle Park Plate, the Great Northern Foal Stakes, and the Dunedin Eclipse Stakes. In winning the Welcome Stalu-3 of 1897 he cut out four furlongs in 46 l-ssecs—an Australasian record, which holds good to this day. Conqueror has also been a great prize-taker in the show-ring, securing twelve first and eleven champion prizes, and has never been beaten. He is by Medallion (sire of Achilles) from Siesta (winner of the Welcome Stakes), by Traducer (imp.), from Hammock (imp.), by Crest. It will thus be seen that he belongs to the famous Bruce Lowe No. 2 family. Conqueror is a magnificent rich bay horse standing 16.2, and shows a remarkable amount of bone and muscle. He has sired a large number of winners, amongst the number being Motoa, Waipaku—• holder of the New Zealand record for a mile and a furlong—Toa Tuhi, Naumai, Chivalry, Ability, William 1., Tawhera, Ard Reigh, and Conquer. In an advertisement on page 1 of tnis issue, Mr C. McCu lough, Manaia, Masterton, announces that Conqueror'h fee is 12 guineas, two'or more mares as per arrangement. Mares will be met at the Masterton Railway Station. Every care taken, but no responsibility. Good paddocking is provided at Is 6d per week.
