MARTON RACES. by telegraph-—rsssa ASSOCIATION. MARTON, September 2. The opening day of the Marton -Jockey Club's spring meeting was held in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance, big fields, and a surprisingly good course. Seventeen bookmakers were in evidence, and despite this the totalisator returns showed a slight increase over the corresponding day of last year, the I figures being £6,941 against £6,898. Scratched —Gordon Park, Lady Paul, Mountain, Melody, Sir Possible, Waiari, Eclogue, Bravery, Ora Pinsent. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 33sec. Hunt Cup—Janella I, Ballance 2, Whipcord 3. Scratched—Red Shank, Tiana, Bungalow, Hctumoi, Cloudy Morn. A splendid race. Won by two lengths. Time, smin 46 2-ssec.
