WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Waiyarapa South County Council was held -at the County offices, Carterton, on Saturday. There were present Crw VVm. Perry (in the chair), T. V. Moore, F. Court, R. Barrer, D. Douglas, Geo. Stevens, H. S. Mason and J. Strang. Mr 11. H. Wolters, County Clerk, applied for leave of absence, which was granted. Thu Treasurer reported a debit balance at the Bank of New Zealand of .■£B27 Is sd. The receipts since last meeting had been £1,318 lis 2d. The Secretary of the Wairarapa District Hospital Board wrote acknowledging the receipt of a letter from the Council with reference to the support of two Wairarapa patients in .the Otaki Sanatorium. The Secretary stated that he had submitted the matter to the Chairman of his Board, but the latter did not wish to decide tii-j matter on his own bahalf. The Secretary of the Dalefield Sshool Committee (Mr H. £l. Knr.vles) wrote with reference to the .■drain in front of the Daleiield School ;and asked the Council if it would .privide the pipe, providing the Committee found the labour for the work. Cr Welch moved, and Cr Court ssconded, that the request be acceded tj. —The motion was carried. Crs Stevens and Moore were »p----pointed to .•sign and affix the Cuundl's J sanl to an agreement between Mr H,'| il. Bunny ••'*vnd the Council, for the liasa of one acre of land in the Huangurua Survey District. The Engineer was instructed to have necessary work carried out at Jackson's Creek. Cr Douglas moved that Cr3 Strang | a.id Mason, with the Engineer, be appointed a Committee to arrange re in ital pits on Tiriurupuru Road. —The J niolioii'was carrijd. Cr Strang moveci, and Cr Mason •S3coided, that the Engineer be instr.nted to take fresh levels near the Ujjole gate on the Gladstone Road, with the view of obtaining a better gra !e.—The motion was carried. On the motion of Cr Moore, seconded by Cr Strang, it was decided that the Backwater bridge at Gladstone be stripped and such timber as is any good to be used for resheathi.ig the Backwater bridge.
