BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. Received August 30, 4.20 p.rr. BRISBANE, August 30. Britain defeated Queensland, yesterday, by 11 points to 8, after a hard and fast game. In the second spell play was very rough. McEvedy, of the British team, had his collarbone broken. The rirst half ended with the score three all, Gibbs for Britain and Gallacher for Queensland scoring tries. In the second spell Maher scored for Queensland, Thrown converting. Williams and Gibbs were responsible for tries for Britain; Dyke converted the latter.
MELBOURNE, August 30. In the Fuotball Carnival yesterday, South Australia defeated Tasmania by 16 goals 20 behinds (116 points) to 7 goals (42 points); Victoria defeated VVestralia by 13 goals 22 behinds (100 points) to 6 goals 8 behinds (44 points).
