MORE RECREATIVE AREAS.

There is no denying that many persons voted at the recent poll respecting the Borough acquisition of the Snowgrounds against the proposal in the belief that the Mastertom Park had an undeveloped area in its extension which would do the Borough, for many years to come. Such person* would perhaps be very much surprised to hear that whan the proposed extensions of the Park Lake are completed the remaining areaioff the extension will be very limited, and not nearly enough to supply thefootball, cricket, hockey and other needs of the people. The Lake is al« ready an expansive sheet of water, but the consummation of events will see it enclosing new islands of no small extent This is not the time for vain regrets, and now that the ratepayers have declared against Municipal recreation grounds it behoves the footballers of tha district to leave no stone unturned to acquire at least a portion of the Showgrounds. The New Zealand Union is morally bound to assist the local Unions, and Wairarapa has been the home of football for many years. True, we have not shown marked combined brilliancy of late years but football successes travel in cycles, as do many other things, and Wairarapa will again put a crack team Ira the field when its turn comes.
