Next month the public willlhave anoppor--tunity of hearing a,very/ w.ell!-kno.wn and gifted English singer,. Mr Chas. Saunders, mid. his wi£e>, who is an equally gifted contrail The enterprise of the Chorali Saciety, in bringing to the town eminent English artists, who would, otherwise not be heard, deserves, public recognition, and it is desirable? that the support accorJedito the production of the pastoral in which the visitors will appear ("The Majt Quean*'jl will be of such a nature as to malfce the venture at least a payable one for the Society. Musical! interests have languished in Masterton for a long time through apathy oni the part of the public, in spite of the admittedly uplifting tendency of good music. Being an organisation: whose only reward for their enterprise will probably be the anxiety of rehearsal and weeks of practice, and: whose sole object is to give the musicaJ public a chance to hear weal virtuosi, the Choral Society is entitled to generous patronage.
