STREET WIDENING.

(To the Editor). Sir,—l wag very pleased to see your article advocating the widening of Dixon Street—a most necessary work—and seeing that the Borough Council have more than the necessary funds available there is no time like the present. [do not consider that any compensation should be paid to those whose land may be taken for the purpose, as their properties will be much improved by the widening. I would, also, point out that George and Villa Streets require widening, and the work should be undertaken at once. Trusting that the Borough Council will adopt the proposal put forward by you and extend same to George and Villa Streets. —I am, etc., RESIDENT.
